The International Order of Job's Daughters is a premier
organization organization for young women from ages 10 to 20, who are
*related to a Master Mason. Members learn important skills that
benefit them now, as well as in the future, such as leadership, organization,
teamwork and self reliance. The lessons of Job's Daughters are taught
around the principle framework of respect for parents and home, loyalty
to flag and country, and reverence for God.
Education is an important aspect of everyone's life.
Job's Daughters recognizes this and should in no way interfere with
school work or home responsibilities. Each year the organization helps
girls achieve their educational goals by awarding scholarships. Scholarships
are awarded at the International level, as well as by many regional
jurisdictions and many other Masonic organizations.
Job's Daughters
truly is "International." The Order currently has over 20,000
members in Canada, Australia, the Philippines, Brazil and the United
States. Girls have many opportunities to travel and meet other Job's
Daughters from their area or region, as well as from around the country
and world.
For over 85 years, Job's Daughters has been actively
promoting friendship and service. Job's Daughters was founded in 1920
in Omaha, Nebraska, by Mrs. Ethel T. Wead Mick. The Order takes it's
name from the Book of Job, with particular reference to the 42nd chapter,
15th verse, which states: "And in all the land were no women found
so fair as the Daughters of Job."
Tradition plays
an important role in Job's Daughters meetings. Members wear dresses
to "Bethel" meetings and Officers wear Grecian style robes
to promote democracy and equality. Initiations are beautiful and sincere
ceremonies, no embarrassing or harassing rituals or hazing are involved.
Parents are always welcome at all meetings and are encouraged to become
active helpers of the Bethel.
In addition to bi-monthly meetings, many fun activities
are planned by the local Bethels, as well as regional "Grand Guardian
Council," "Grand Bethel," or "Supreme Bethel"
Officers in your area.
